Dogs in the Heat

Yes my pets are cute, but they could become diseased in a short period of time. One of my dog's eyes grew out of focus and looks into my little French Bull dog. She is only about 10 pounds but she is the most surgicallyrief dog I have ever owned. I bought her prime meat-on-a-stick cause she love the blowing of the dust. That is about it. We began to notice skin lesions over her face and body. I quickly learned that she was suffering from caninedermatitis. A strange term for a strange looking dog. (which I have decided is a better term than Dermatitis and willbee to describe the dog). The dog was given a topical ointmentwhich helped to relieve the symptoms . After a week of being medicated the condition had gone away, but she was still having a hard time seeing and feeling and hearing.

Then I decided to look online for answers. I spent a couple of days frantically searching for answers. I talked to my vet and to my dog's vet, but they both told me the same thing. It appeared that she had a type of skin disorder that is actually called Pyoderma. In order to describe the skin disorder she is like a poisonous pot i.e. it gives the dog a very dry and itchy skin. It is chronic and if the dog is out in the heat it puts even more pressure on this skin disorder

Dermatitis is a skin disorder that occurs when the skin becomes inflamed and red. The inflammation is caused by the dog's normal body temperature being too high or too low. The blood vessels constrict and bleeding begins. The period of occurrence usually comes followed by a itchy dog so the owner of the dog should be careful. It is advised that as soon as the temperature is up or down your dog should be taken to a vet. The vet will then decide what medicine to give and how to give it. Sometimes the vet may decide to start him on antibiotics or steroids.

The owner should never imagine that the symptoms are allergies! They can be caused by many things, for example pollen, grasses, dust and skin irritants. Try real hard to find out the actual cause.

If you believe that your dog is suffering from Dermatitis a vet will probably ask for a blood test. The vet may even suggest that skin irritation results from allergic reactions and not from fleas, which are the main cause of Skin Disease. It is a fact that allergic reactions can be caused by a range of things, but the most common are food, grooming products and pollen. While Skin Diseases are more common in the summer (grass seeds) they can occur year round.

Another fact that Skin diseases are more common in the summer, year round, is that grass seeds are a parasite carrier and does not discriminate between species. It can be the exact same parasite in the grass seed that can infect your dog. The parasite in the seed is the Trichophyton. Young plants (as does) such as those in your garden, are ideal places for the parasite to live and breed.
